Jane Wurwand, Founder
jane

First and foremost, Jane Wurwand is a skin therapist.  She loves all things skin – whether she’s talking about skin or literally performing treatments, her life-long passion for what she does is genuine and truly infectious.

When Jane was growing up in a small town in the UK, she lied about her age at 13 to become a “Saturday girl” in a hair salon.  This meant that she got to work on Saturdays plucking hundreds of straight pins (from those pre-Sassoon updos) out of the week’s collected hair clippings, sterilizing the pins, putting them into boxes, onto trolleys, and returning them to the floor for the hairdressers to repeat the process all over again throughout the week.

To some, patiently sifting through a box of hair cuttings might not have seemed like a stellar career opportunity. However, this exposure to the atmosphere of salon life was the epiphany of a lifetime for Jane. “I felt like I had been plugged into a giant battery. I didn’t see the drudgery. I didn’t find it tedious. Instead, I felt this tremendous buzz of energy and electricity run through me, and I have felt it ever since, for 30 years in the skin care industry.”

Today, Jane’s experience shapes who we are and everything we do at The International Dermal Institute. What we offer our students goes far beyond technical training and access to expertise you won’t find anywhere else. Our mission is to stay in touch with that original sense of “electricity" – the feeling of connecting with destiny and creating your own future with your own heart, mind and hands.

Today, Jane travels the world to speak, teach, and most importantly, continue her own education as a skin therapist.
